Dr. John Brancel has been providing medical care to animals for over 30 years. Prior to opening Prairie State Animal Hospital in Oak Park, Dr. Brancel founded and operated Midtown Veterinary, a practice providing animal house calls and supplying relief coverage for other veterinary clinics. His first posting, as the Chief Veterinarian at the Anti-Cruelty Society of Chicago, came in 1982, after he was awarded his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois.

     Dr. Brancel’s chosen specialties include canine and feline medicine and surgery. He volunteers at The Animal Care League and holds membership in the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, and Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association.
